Call for Virtual Networking Lounge Ideas

Your contributions to the Congress are paramount for the success of the meeting and advancement of the field.

Half the reason people attend congresses is to network.

Unfortunately, at a virtual event it’s hard for this to just happen naturally so we are offering these virtual networking rooms to integrate community-building moments.

Sessions will range from 45 to 90 minutes in length with multiple time zones to choose from. All sessions will be hosted on the Zoom platform managed by the technology team at TTS. The maximum capacity for each session is 300, however we recommend keeping groups much smaller (10 to 50 participants) to ensure interactivity. Our scientific program committee will work with respondents (when needed) to refine their proposals as well as assist in finding experts (when necessary).

Samples of types virtual networking sessions:

Roundtable Events

Roundtables are beneficial to those looking to advance their knowledge by communicating with their peers. Roundtables allow for open forums and discussions that, more often than not, lead to creative ideas and new directions.

Happy Hour Networking Meetups

Happy hour is a tried-and-true tradition in the networking world. It allows for more of a relaxed atmosphere—making small talk and approaching strangers is simpler in a casual environment.

Workshops

In virtual workshops, it is very important that you make the participants feel safe and secure to start the dialogue. Make sure to have a script of what happens when and clearly communicate that to participants as well.

Bring your interesting cases

Our Transplant Infectious Disease Section has an interesting session every meeting where they bring their interesting cases and engage with the audience throughout the session.

Ask the Experts

A session with an expert or guest speaker. It’s a unique way of interviewing where the guest takes questions from the audience in real-time as well as some pre-submitted questions.

Fireside Chats

Hugely popular among the startup community. It is an informal discussion with a guest and the moderator. Its comfortable setting makes it engaging for the audience as it seems like you are listening to your close friend sharing deep insights.

Professional Development

We expect many junior attendees. We would love to hear from both junior and senior people on topics for discussion to impove career development.

Disruptive Technology Demos

Demo an innovation that creates a new market and value network and eventually disrupts an existing market and value network, displacing established market-leading firms, products, and alliances

Moon Shot

Propose for discussion an ambitious, exploratory and ground-breaking project undertaken without any expectation of near-term profitability or benefit and also, perhaps, without a full investigation of potential risks and benefits.

Bring your talent

A workshop for our members to discuss their talents and interests outside of our specialty. Art, Music, Poetry, etc.
